Why we named it Willow

Willow is named for Willow Marie Johnson, the founder's daughter. Born August 8, 2019. Six years old. She grows toward the light like the tree she's named after.

Google also has something called Willow — a 105-qubit quantum chip announced in December 2024. Their Willow processes quantum states. Our Willow processes family connection. Different kind of entanglement.

The app was built as an offering. A way for a father to be present when presence was limited. Voice messages cross distance. Mood tracking says "I see how you're feeling." Family contacts say "you're not alone."

For neurodivergent children

Willow was designed from the start for neurodivergent cognition. Every feature considers sensory sensitivity, executive function, and the spoon economy. No bright flashes. No unexpected sounds. No complex navigation. Just the essentials, presented calmly.

Willow is free and open source. No ads. No tracking. No accounts. Built by P31 Labs, a Georgia nonprofit (EIN 42-1888158).
