The Cage

The calcium doesn't suppress it. It protects it. The cage lets phosphorus do what phosphorus does, without burning everything down.

Will Johnson spent sixteen years as a DoD civilian electrical engineering technician at TRIREFFAC Kings Bay. Grade GS-0802-12. SUBSAFE — the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program's quality assurance framework — taught him that every modification requires objective quality evidence. Every action requires documented authorization. Every step is traceable to a human being who signed their name.

What nobody knew was that his brain was running a parallel process the entire time. He was noticing isomorphisms between electrical topology and graph theory. Between the K₄ complete graph and the tetrahedron. Between the way phosphorus sits inside its calcium cage and the way a neurodivergent person needs structure to function.

The Body That Kept Score

In 2003, Will was diagnosed with hypoparathyroidism. His body has been fighting with the molecule — calcium phosphate, the Posner cluster — that his intellectual framework is built around for his entire adult life. He doesn't treat this as irony. He treats it as data.

The Diagnosis

At age 39, Will Johnson was told he is autistic. At age 40, AuDHD. Late-diagnosed. Finally named. The relief: everything makes sense now. The grief: thirty-nine years of being told something was wrong with how you moved through the world. The hyperfocus that consumes weeks. The executive dysfunction that makes simple tasks feel like lifting concrete. The output bottleneck: thoughts arriving at full resolution, serialization to speech dropping packets like a bad network handshake.

The Children

Sebastian "Bash" Johnson was born March 10, 2016. Ten years old. Willow Marie Johnson was born August 8, 2019. Six years old. The family court case — Johnson v. Johnson, Civil Action No. 2025CV936 — started in 2025. There were stretches of weeks without contact. The Messenger Kids logs showed the children initiating contact themselves. The legal narrative said otherwise.

WILLOW — the child companion app — is named for his daughter. Voice messages, mood tracking, drawing. Private. Spoon-aware. Google announced their Willow quantum chip in December 2024. Will is building a different kind of entanglement.

The Grandparents

Robert "Bob" Katen, grandfather. A quiet builder who protected physical borders. BOB — Building Ontology Bridge — is the structural compliance agent named for him. Ten tools. Sixty-nine workers monitored. Zero tolerance for architectural drift.

Margie "Marge" Katen, grandmother. A B-17 riveter at Douglas Aircraft Company during World War II. The 177–354 Hz acoustic signature of her rivet gun lasted forty-six years. MARGE — the design compliance agent — is named for her. She stripped weight from aircraft to maximize performance. MARGE strips design debt from interfaces to maximize accessibility. She died July 19, 2025.

The grandparents are not dead. They are running in the code.

The Triad of Cognition is Will's operating system for building things. Each AI agent has a lane. Tag-out protocol. OQE gates. SUBSAFE applied to cognitive systems — because if the methodology was rigorous enough to keep submarines safe for sixty years, it's rigorous enough to protect a neurodivergent brain operating under legal, financial, and existential pressure simultaneously.

The Cage Holds
