Sovereign vs SaaS
What the big players charge, and how P31 does it. Competitor figures are published pricing, retrieved 2026-10-13, each row linked to the vendor's own page. Our costs are architecture math only.
The governance gap
In July 2026, Stacklok and the Linux Foundation's AAIF asked 100 senior software engineers at US and UK companies how they use MCP. The headline — 41% of software orgs say MCP is in production — hides the real story.
86% of MCP use is still experimenting or local development. 9% runs in production with no governance. Only 5% is governed, enterprise-wide production.
Security and compliance are the top blocker (49%). Governance is second (34%). So the scarce, expensive thing is not the protocol — it is the governance layer. That layer is the product. We run it on the $5 plan.
The official MCP Registry hit 42,753 servers on October 13, 2026 — in Forkast's framing, connectivity is abundant, trust is unverified (Forkast, 2026-10-13 ↗).
Mordor Intelligence sizes the agent observability and governance market at $1.23B (2025), $1.68B (2026), and $8.62B by 2031 (38.69% CAGR). As regulations start requiring real-time audit trails, observability turns into a compliance mandate — the Loom is that, for pennies (Mordor, May 2026 ↗).

The table
| Capability | Their published price | P31 architecture | Our estimated cost |
|---|---|---|---|
| MCP registry for 50 seats | $1,250 / month Mintive (MintMCP) Teams — 50 seats included, $25 per additional seat. Published pricing. See source ↗ | Self-hosted registry One Worker behind our own domain: KV catalog, Durable Object ledger, queue ingest. 44 servers registered, 22 live, 124 tools — ours to keep. | Within the $5 plan’s included allowances at our scale. |
| Agent tracing at 1M traces / month | ≈$5,000 / month LangSmith Plus — $39/seat plus pay-as-you-go traces. At the published LSU rate (0.005 LSU per base trace, $1.00/LSU ≈ $5 per 1,000), 1M base traces ≈ $5,000/mo. Before the July 2026 repricing the published rate was $2.50 per 1,000 (≈$2,514/mo at 1M). See source ↗ | The Loom’s hash-chained ledger on D1 Every record links to the one before it via SHA-256; anyone can replay the chain at the public verify surface. D1’s paid plan includes 25 billion rows read per month. | Within the $5 plan’s included allowances at our scale. |
| Observability, 100-host reference workload | ≈$5,315 / month Datadog — Infrastructure Pro $15 + APM $31 per host/month (published rates) = $4,600/mo for 100 hosts; log ingestion ($0.10/GB) and indexing ($1.70 per million events) at published rates push a reference workload to ≈$5,315/mo. Arithmetic at published rates — an estimate, not a quote. See source ↗ | The ledgers + health probes The same append-only ledgers double as the audit trail, and the fleet health gate probes every server on a schedule. Workers Logs ships 20 million included log events per month. | Within the $5 plan’s included allowances at our scale. |
| Frontend hosting per seat | $20 / month per developer seat Vercel Pro — $20/mo base plan plus $20 per developer seat. Published pricing. See source ↗ | Cloudflare Pages + Workers Paid Pages serves static requests and bandwidth free and unlimited; Workers Paid is $5 per account — 10 million requests and 30 million CPU-milliseconds included per month, no per-seat charge. | $5 / account — the whole family, every seat. |
| Object storage, 10 TB egress / month | ≈$900 / month AWS S3 — data transfer out to the internet at the published first-10TB rate of $0.09/GB: 10 TB ≈ $900/mo, before request charges. Published pricing. See source ↗ | Cloudflare R2 Zero egress fees at any volume. 10 GB stored free, then $0.015/GB-month. Papers, assets, and archives can be served to anyone, free of transfer bills. | $0 egress — storage only, and the first 10 GB is free. |
| Agent runtime hosting | Pro $50 / month · Team $200 / month Agent Droplets (launched 2026-10-01). Pro is $50/mo with a 15% discount on agent usage — at the standard rate that covers ≈$58.82 of usage. Team is $200/mo with 20% off, covering $250.00. $5 free-trial credit for new customers; past the plan, usage keeps going at list price. Published pricing. DigitalOcean reports 99.3% tool-matching accuracy in internal testing — its bet is that the bottleneck for agents is not compute but tool integration (Forkast, 2026-09-23). Their bet is tool-matching; ours is governance — the same problem, different layer. See source ↗ · Harness Runtime pricing ↗ | Workers Paid, one flat account Harness, catalog, ledger, and queues all run on Workers Paid: 10 million requests and 30 million CPU-milliseconds included per month, no per-seat charge, no metered microVMs. | Within the $5 plan’s included allowances at our scale. |
| Agent runtime, metered | $0.0997 / vCPU-hr + $0.0132 / GB-hr Amazon Bedrock AgentCore v2, committed baseline (launching October 2026). v1 bills $0.0895/vCPU-hr + $0.00945/GB-hr; v2 consumption bills $0.1276/vCPU-hr + $0.0169/GB-hr. The metering never sleeps: a NAT gateway bills ≈$33/mo while nothing runs. See source ↗ · AWS Builder Center idle-cost breakdown ↗ | Flat allowances, no idle meter Workers Paid is a flat $5 with included allowances. When the fleet is quiet, nothing meters. Predictable vs metered is the real axis of this comparison. | Within the $5 plan’s included allowances at our scale. |
The method
Their numbers. Every competitor figure above is published pricing retrieved 2026-10-13, with a link to the vendor's own pricing page. Where a vendor prices by unit (traces, hosts, gigabytes), the number is arithmetic at those published rates, labeled as such. The governance-gap figures are a survey — Stacklok's State of MCP in Software 2026, 100 senior software engineers in the US and UK, run with the Linux Foundation's AAIF — cited as a survey, not an estimate.
Our numbers. We state our architecture and the published Cloudflare Workers Paid allowances it fits inside. A 16-server MCP fleet, the hub and portals on Pages, D1 ledgers, KV, Queues, and Durable Objects all fit inside the plan's included allowances: 10 million requests and 30 million CPU-milliseconds per month, D1's 25 billion rows read, zero egress. That is architecture math, not a claim about our actual bill — we do not print a number we cannot audit.
What this page is not. It is not a benchmark, not a negotiation tactic, and not an advertisement. SaaS observability and registries buy real things: compliance paperwork, support staff, managed uptime. This page exists so a family can see the actual arithmetic before choosing — ours included.
